Lexan FR60 is a flame retardant film that is characterized by a clear thin gauge, polycarbonate film that has polished surfaces on both sides. This grade of Lexan film has the UL94 V-0 listing meaning it meets the stringent requirements for a wide range of electronic and electrical, automotive and constructions applications.
Lexan FR65 is also a flame retardant film but it differs from Lexan FR60 because it has a matte and velvet surface. It has the formidability and a UL94 V-0 listing that satisfactorily meets the stringent requirements of electronic and electrical applications including transportation applications.
Lexan FR700 is an opaque black fire retardant polycarbonate film with a UL94 V-0 listing. In certain thicknesses, the film can meet the stringent requirements of electronic and electrical applications.
Lexan 8010 is a Lexan film that is polished in both sides with a transparent film providing clarity and distortion-free optic in all gauges. The polished films offer 86% to 92% light transmission through all the gauges from 5 to 30mil which makes it the most ideal choice for LED/LCD windows and for applications wherein a second surface printing is required like fascia panels of household appliances, audio/video equipment and automotive dials.
Lexan film textured grades
There are certain advantages provided by Lexan film textured grades. Since the surface texture and anti-reflective controls light diffusion, it helps in concealing scratches. The textured films are also easy to process and form making them suitable for the wide range of applications. The films allow for “deadfront” graphics for illuminated instructions and warning lights including labels for industrial equipment and control panels for HVAC. Contrary to the film textured grades, there are Lexan film polished grades in custom colors and optical quality films. In order for both sides of the film to be polished for aesthetics purposes, various techniques are used. Standard grades are also available that can be used for conventional solvent-based inks as well as UV-cured inks. Lexan SLX11010 is an excellent option when there is a need for chemical resistance outdoor weathering.
The versatility of Lexan films including its proven qualities for superior performance makes it a preferred choice for a wide range of applications. Compared to other films, Lexan provides superior tear strength which translates into fewer rejects, less production handling problems, higher quality and more durable products. Aside from its electrical and electronic applications, Lexan is widely used in graphic applications because it allows printing using a variety of methods.
