Would adding cars, fleet outfitters, and improving roads improve the economy of countries? According to studies conducted, improving the transportation system with fleet outfitters definitely is a major contributor to the overall improvement of a nation’s economy. For this reason, there are now several fleet outfitters in the market these days healthily competing with each other. The number of people seeking to own their own automobile are also increasing.
The rise of industrial capitalism and railways
Several hundred years ago, it was not really the roads but rather the railways which were the dominant capitalist mode of transportation by land. The railways were considered to be the iron sinews which drew industrial capitalism to their feet and rise. Indeed, there was a widespread of use of the railroad system across the globe. The spread was synonymous with the spread of industrial capitalism. The use of railways improved efficiency in that it provided rapid and efficient transportation of people as well as commodities in different distances. The railroad system has made it possible for the concentration of production in factories which were centered typically in huge industrial cities. Whereas the production before had been dispersed in traditional cottage industries and were sold for most part in the nearby local markets. The railway system made it possible for the concentration and totally reorganized production in large factories which could supply both the world and national markets. This way, the railways had facilitated the destruction of the old ways of crafting skills which gave workers a huge degree of control in their labor and had always served to impose the real consumption of the labor under capitalism.
When the workers are concentrated in factories under the direct supervision and organization of the capitalist as well as in his functionaries, the railway system provided for the means in the further subordination of the worker to capital which came with the mechanization of the production in the factories. The mechanization of production required for large quantities of steel in order to build and maintain machineries and even greater quantities of coal so as to efficiently power them up. It was the system of railways that were perfect in hauling these bulky materials rapidly over several miles of distances. It provided for a very important means of transportation without which it is impossible to have mechanization of the production of materials.
However, the railways did not just make the industrial capitalism possible, rather is also epitomized the early industrial capitalism. The mechanical regularity of the machineries which reduced the movement of the worker to its own rhythm in the production facility were being replicated in the punctuality of the railway timetables which confined the movement of people to the discipline of very precise departure times. The railways were the means of mechanization transport. The railway system facilitated in the concentration and development of industrial capitalism and by the end of the nineteenth century, the railways had stood alongside steel and iron as well as coal as one of the major pillars of capitalism.
