What is a Rotary Vane Pump?
A rotary vane pump is a positive-displacement pump designed to have vanes mounted to a rotor. This rotor rotates inside a cavity or pumps housing. The rotor is regularly offset from the pump’s cylinder to cause eccentricity. As this rotor spins, the vanes that are mounted to it are forced to slide in and out the slotted rotor with centrifugal force or it could be assisted with push rods or springs. The vanes then seal on the pump housing to create vane chambers.
On the pumps in taking side the vane chambers are increasing in volume. And these increasing volume vane chambers are then filled with fluid that is forced in by the inlet pressure. While on the discharge of the pump, the vane chambers are decreasing in volume forcing the fluid out of the pump.
Top Uses of Rotary Vane Pump
The automotive industry is the one that uses rotary vane pumps the most. There are various parts that use this type of pump to ensure functionality and efficiency. These parts include braking, power steering, supercharging as well as automatic transmission. Rotary vane pumps are also used in various vehicles like airplanes and ships.
This type of pump is also used in espresso and soft drink dispensing machines. Rotary pumps are also used in air conditioning units. There a lot of uses in this type of pump and it help a lot of industries in various applications.
