Almost every home improvement project needs the use of adhesive, in some way or another. So, if you are looking for an adhesive for a minor project or for your large industrial project, you are posed to choose which type of adhesive to use. Your initial attempt most likely would be to select among instant, sealant, and pressure-sensitive adhesives. However, there is actually more to that when you are looking for a quick and efficient adhesion. Most probably, you will need to consider adhesive accelerators, primers or activators to work on hard-to-bond materials.
These adhesive materials can help you achieve the best bond possible even between the most difficult materials or surfaces to bond. But, prior to using any adhesive accelerators, primers or activators, make sure to refer to the directions from the manufacturer. This is because each of these products is formulated using different ingredients. So, in order to achieve the best possible results, only choose the product for a material that is specified by the manufacturer. With that in mind, here are the three different varieties:
Activators: these products can be used either before or during adhesion to begin or hasten the bonding process. Their properties make them perfect for use on anaerobic adhesives and other miscellaneous adhesives. They aid adhesives to work much better on bigger bond gaps.
Accelerators: adhesive accelerators, as their name suggests, speed up the curing process for some types of adhesives. What makes them different from activators is in the way they are being applied. They are usually applied after the adhesive, speeding up the cure time during the bonding.
Primers: these products are applied prior to the application of the adhesive in order to treat the substrates to be bonded. Their purpose is to facilitate better adhesion while also ensuring fast bonding between materials.
