- Conveyor belt deviation
This problem occurs when the center line of the belt and the roller is not vertical. It may also be due to the error in machine tension device installation, causing inappropriate tension adjustment on both sides of the belt conveyor. Another possible reason for deviation is the ineffective correction device or its absence.
- Premature wear on the edge of the belt
Deviation in the belt conveyor can result to early wear of the equipment. That’s why it’s very important to correct it immediately. Other potential cause is a poor installation of conveyor belt into the groove, making it not flexible enough to support the rotation of the rollers.
- Roller Not Turning
This is definitely due to a damaged roller which can be caused by accumulation of dust in the seal of the roller. This clogs the roller, making it unable to turn and halting the entire conveying operation. When this happens, it’s advisable to replace the roller and its bearing or utilise impact roller at the blanking point.
These three issues are just some of the common problems that a belt conveyor may experience throughout its lifetime. In order to prevent them from happening, proper maintenance is crucial. This includes regular checkup of the conveyor parts, such as the belt, motor, reducer, roller, drive sprocket, chains, and so on, to catch any signs of trouble earlier. It’s also important to know when lubrication is needed and proper cleaning to remove dust buildup to prevent equipment failure.
