While mobile homes were initially for the young who were finding their place in the world, anything made around 1970s deserved to be called more than just a mobile home. However, many still considered the quality of a manufactured home not good enough. They think that it will easily be blown away by a tornado, but it’s not true, of course. Prefabricated homes or manufactured homes of today have gone through strict wind safety tests and regulations. Even a regular house is at risk if hurricanes or very strong storms happen.
Modular homes, for instance, are also manufactured that are made in a factory but are being assembled, rather than hauled on site. There are also those tiny houses which seems to be attractive for the millennials. But unlike a mobile home that is like a standard housing, they are more like a recreational home than a manufactured home. They are built according to the RV code and have a different demographics. But there are also some smaller mobile homes to appeal to that demographic group.
No matter how different these terms are one thing is for sure. Since affordable housing stock is becoming scarce every day, prefabricated homes, be it a mobile home or a modular home, are growing more popular.
