Uses of Baking sheets
The baking trays is commonly known as the cookie sheet and is also sometimes termed as a metal sheet. The baking sheet is the pan of choice for various kinds of rolled or drop cookies. The cookies that are baked this way include a lot of oft-made pastries and goods like oatmeal cookies, sugar cookies, tollhouse cookies and the butter cookies. Other products baked this way are the biscotto which is a unique type of cookie that is molded log, rugelach, gingerbread men and the stained glass cookies.
Another common use of baking sheet is to roast or to toast items that do not have a lot of liquid. The item should have less liquid so that it will not run over the edge. Items that can be toasted or roasted are the pumpkin seeds, nuts and bread cubes which are oiled. Garlic bread can also be baked this way. Roasting on the baking or metal sheet works for several vegetables and spices like onions, eggplant, squash and peppers. When the method is carefully executed, it will leave the vegetables browned in its outer layer while tender inside.
Some bread that is baked quickly is baked on baking sheets. Scones which can be made into various shapes like squares, diamonds, triangles or rounds are usually prepared or baked quickly are using baking sheets. Biscuits and baking powder biscuits are also baked this way. On the other hand, muffins and popovers are baked in specialized tins. The baking sheet is used to bake turnovers from various cultures. This includes calzones, Italian turnovers; empanadas, Spanish or Mexican pastries; Skaltsounia, turnovers from Crete and samosas of India. The different dessert turnovers are also baked in the same fashion. Other items that can be cooked in this way include crackers, pizza, pretzels and crab cakes.
Baking pans
The baking pan is one of the commonly used tools in preparing or baking food. It has several numbers of purposes. The average baking pan is made from glass or metal. The metal versions of the pan are made from the material aluminum, tinned steel or carbon steel. Some of the metal pans can have a bottom that is treated with copper which is similar to the copper coating found on various sets of pans and stainless steel range cooking pots. Today, there are a lot of metal pans that have a nonstick surface.
