Among the wide range of industries, industrial vacuum pumps are very useful for many applications from removing unwanted moisture to packaging different goods. They make the operations in commercial and industrial settings much easier and cleaner. This technology has been around for centuries, serving a vast range of needs of hospitals, manufacturing sector, and service industries. Whatever the demand may be by the industry, a vacuum pump is very capable to fulfill those demand while providing optimal performance. The two common industrial vacuum pumps available that might be applicable for your operation are the rotary vane and liquid ring vacuum pumps.
Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump
A rotary vane vacuum pump contains a circular rotor which moves within a round chamber. The positioning of the rotor is what causes the eccentricity of the motion because their centers never aligned to each other. The length of the vanes usually varies so that it remains in contact with the rotor pumps all throughout the entire revolution cycle.
At the intake side, the volume of the vane chambers rises which draws in the fluid inside while at the other end, the volume decreases which causes the fluid to go out the pump. Rotary vane pump is widely used for the applications in the aerospace and automotive industries as well as other industries where the process of separating oil and gas is required.
Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps
Among the different industrial vacuum pumps, a liquid ring vacuum is a positive displacement pump that’s sealed by a ring of liquid. This liquid ring pump functions similar to that of a rotary vane pump. Typically, this type of pump is designed for heavy-duty industrial applications that would be otherwise hard for other industrial vacuum pumps. Its operation is built around a friction-free impeller in which the air is being sucked into the chamber and then pushed by the compression of gas out of the pump.
Liquid ring vacuum pumps are usually used in paper production, petroleum refining, soil remediation, and steam-turbine generators. They are also used in producing mold papers for egg tray cartons and other packing supplies.
