They are designed to absorb any movements or vibrations caused by the equipment. These anti-vibration pool noodles are usually made of flexible materials such as a rubber or polyethylene foam. They have excellent absorbing capacity of the unwanted vibration caused by the machines. Vibration isolators can also be tailored-fit to suit the specific shape, size and thickness of the equipment or machine. They can’t affect how that equipment works and they also only need little extra space to install.
In addition, vibration isolators come in several types which are used in different applications. These include the following:
- Foams & polyurethanes: these pool noodles are used more recently as vibration isolators. They can both dampen and isolate vibrations. However, foam has the tendency to break down quickly and easily, so periodic replacement is a must.
- Springs: while not being the most used isolator, springs were one of the first materials which are still in use today in several applications. They absorb the vibration and release it in a different direction.
- Rubber: this material works very similar to springs on terms of absorbing and releasing vibrations. Rubber is also considered as the second most used vibration isolator.
