Duplex basket strainers are custom designed for applications that require uninterrupted flow. It can have a threaded or flanged end connection. It is used in industries where solid impurities are present and needed to address. In this type of strainer, the dirty water enters through the manifold and is diverted to one of the strainers housings. The water enters the housing at the top passes down through the strainer basket and exits at the bottom. The water leaves the assembly after passing through the outlet manifold. When the strainer basket needs service, the operator pulls the lever to direct flow to the standby housing. On larger units, this may require gearbox with a hand wheel.
After depressurizing and draining the housing, the cover can be removed and the basket can be pulled out and cleaned. After being clean, the operator can rinse all the strainer basket and cover assembly. The housing is on standby and ready for use when the other strainer basket needs service. Because the unit is fabricated, food engineering can provide the inlet and outlet connections in various orientations. The system can also be designed for various pressure and temperature ranges as well as special material.
The standard body materials of duplex strainer available are cast iron, ductile iron, cast steel and stainless steel. Various perforations, mesh or perforated mesh combinations are available to meet your process requirements. Duplex basket strainers allow safe removal of the basket without interrupting the process flow. It is easy and manages thus providing efficient solutions for various needs.
