Technology has big role in the changes in today’s way of living. Everything is much easier and faster because of technology. People don’t have to heat up anything with fire since microwaves were invented. The use of gadgets and how they evolve is proof of how much technology is affecting our everyday way of life. Machines are not excluded in the advancement, thereby making it possible to create anything as accurate as can be.
Recent machines are not controlled and operated by humans; computers are the ones running the machines. Because of this, the machines are able to yield a more accurate output that others did not think possible years ago. Precision machining in Toronto and around the world is possible because of these new machines.
A component is designed from scratch, made and altered using various machines in order to meet the specified end result.
1. Lathe
Lathe is considered to be the mother of machines. The turning point of every machines was when lathe was invented. Lathe machines are more commonly used in components that need to be shaped in a circle. This is done by rotating the component and using a tool to remove a part of the material as specified by the user.
Lathe’s tooling is focused in one single point tool that is usually found on the tool post of the lathe. There are processes that need a specific single point tool such as threading. The single point tool is also placed on the tool post of the lathe.
2. Milling Machines
Milling machines are the ones used if you want to achieve any kind of shape in the final output. It can be any shape such as rectangle or square, convex or concave curvature. It can also be a shape in the surface or shaped in the slots of a shaft. Milling machines can be found in many sizes either you need a floor type or a bench tops.
The milling cutters are considered as one of a kind because of the milling machine’s function – it can operate either as a vertical machine or a horizontal one. The cutters are made separately to function as a vertical version or a horizontal one.
3. Drilling Machines
A component may sometimes require a hole depending on the specification. There are various types of holes such as a straight hole, tapped hole or a counter sunk hole. It doesn’t matter what type of hole is required because the drilling machine is able to do all those.
4. Broaching Machines
If you need a machine that could create complex shapes, either internal or external then the broaching machines are ideal. Broaches are needed in every broaching machine and it is quite expensive. It is the reason why the finished components have a high level of accuracy and precision.
5. Gear Manufacturing Machines
These machines are designed solely for the production of gears.
7. CNC Machines
CNC machines are computer-controlled precision machines. These are used when designing a specific component based on requirements put into the code.
