The vacuum collection system process begins when the trashes that are deposited are taken into hatches called the portholes. The portholes can be specifically specialized for recycling, waste or compost. The portholes can be found in public places and on private properties where the owner has given his consent. The waste gathered in the bins is then pulled via an underground pipeline. This is done by applying air pressure difference which is in turn created by huge industrial fans. The portholes have sensors and send immediate signal to the control station indicating that the trash bins need to be emptied. The sensors also help ensure that there is only one kind of waste material travelling through the pipe in a single time. The pipelines then converge on a central facility that processes the wastes accordingly. The system makes use of automated software in order to direct the waste toward the proper container. From the new location, it will be placed in a truck headed towards the final destination like a composting plant or a landfill.
Advantages
The following are some of the advantages of using the vacuum collection system.
- Design flexibility. You can install sewage pipes upwards or horizontally. Vacuum toilets are positioned without any regard to gravity requirements. You can set it even with a small space in between floors or decks. You can earn substantial savings in construction costs as well as in cost of materials. You can create more flexible designs.
- Environmentally friendly. The vacuum systems are environmentally sound solutions since it uses low amount of water, there is reduced sewage volumes and thus require less consumption of power. The vacuum system uses less than 90 percent water compared to other systems. This is valuable resource saved here.
- Fewer hours of installation. You can install the vacuum pipes at a later stage compared to traditional gravity pipes. You can also employ less man power and the piping job can be completed after several hours. Your overall cost is lowered. It uses lighter materials which contribute to the reduction of installation time.
- Requires less water. The vacuum system will allow you to save precious water. If installed on ships, it will save considerable weight. You will need less fresh water treatment or production. It also is characterized with significantly small sewage treatment plants. The volume of waste is also much lower for the same number of toilets and odorous gases are prevented from escaping. There is also no need for placing ventilation in the piping.
