What is Noflex Digestor?
It is a powerful treatment method designed for the effective maintenance of marine sewage systems onboard cruise ships and other passenger carrying ferries. In many instances, the black water and grey water systems onboard these vessels that include cleaning chemicals and overloading are not enough to successfully handle the original design capability of the Marine Sanitation Device (MSD). When the normal bacterial digestion of sewage is compromised, it results into a buildup of anaerobic sludge on the piping system and the process continues until the MSD is plugged with sludge. This results into an unpleasant odor that is highly inconvenient for passengers and staff alike.
It works by neutralizing the chemicals that destroy anaerobic bacteria that obtains its nourishment from sewage. It is essential for the efficient operation of MSD since it also dissolves sludge on the piping system. When sludge is dissolved through the application of Norflex, it will result into liquefaction of sludge and the release of oxygen into the sewage plant. This will stimulate the growth of anaerobic bacteria resulting into a clean, healthy and odorless system.
Advantages
Noflex has built a name in commercial and industrial workplaces for the reduction of sludge buildup and the control of unwanted odors. From being one of the sewage treatment methods used on land-based systems, Noflex started to be used in cruise ships and passenger ferries as a high efficiency treatment system. However, it continues to be used in home septic tanks and on holding tanks of recreational vehicles. It is not a perfumed product that masks the odor coming from septic tanks and holding tanks; it is a blend of chemicals that can be introduced into the sanitary system to neutralize hydrogen sulfides, clean pipes and liquefy solids in holding tanks. Waste that coats the piping system is cleaned and when it is flushed from the system, it stops smells from leaching through pipe connections. Instead of masking odors, Norflex Digestor neutralizes them. Onboard a cruise ship, unwanted odors will not reach the passenger areas.
If Noflex Digestor is used regularly it will result in clean piping systems and septic tanks. However, sewage systems onboard cruise ships vary in size and complexities which requires regular maintenance on a systematic basis. To determine whether there is sufficient or inadequate treatment, regular testing of effluent discharge is important. An effective monitoring system when carried out regularly will ensure compliance to the reduction of pollution in the marine environment.
