- Engaging the Right Firm. The right electrical company would be properly licensed and certified to perform the task at hand. The staff of the said electrical companies would have experienced installers, electricians and project supervisors. This experience would come with the proper licenses and certifications. The absence of these licenses and certifications would make the firm shady at best.
- Business Continuity Plan. Since there would be major dislocation of operations during the conduct of the electrical retrofitting, there needs to be a business continuity plan. This means moving the current operations in some area where the retrofitting would not affect the manpower and operations. This can be outside the existing structure or even within the same edifice.
- Back Up Power. Since the electrical retrofitting would mean electricity would be intermittent in the structure, there is a need for electrical back up power to be supplied during the lull times. There is a need to either invest in or rent generators to supply the power that is shut down during the electrical retrofitting.
- Disposal. There would be materials, albeit hazardous or recyclable, that results from any work done by electrical companies. These would include old bulbs, old wires and old equipment. While some of them can be reused, the others need to be properly disposed in compliance with current regulations.
In planning for an electrical project, there are many things to be considered. These include hiring the right electrical companies, the operations of the business, the availability of back up electrical power and the disposal of waste materials.
