In glassblowing, three operations are involved; batch house, hot end and cold end. Raw materials are handled in the batch house. For the hot end process, furnaces annealing ovens and forming machines does the manufacturing. Inspection and packaging is dealt with in the cold end operation.
The glass manufacturer stores the bulk amount of raw materials it receives in a period of 0ne to five days in a batch house. The raw material can be sieved, dried or melted down for reuse. A conveyor delivers the recipe of glass raw material after it has been measured, assembled and mixed, then it is scaled in a furnace. There are a number of factors that affect the recipe. They include glass quality, types, colors, availability among others.
Glass products are formed during the hot end operation using the molten glass in a furnace. The glass manufacturer uses furnaces that are classified according to the amount of metric tons they are able to produce in a day. They use natural gas as a source of fire. Forming machines convert the molten glass into a gob where glass containers are formed. The annealing oven heats then cools the gob to obtain the desired thickness.
During the cold end, manufacturers perform thorough inspection to eliminate the faulty products. Labeling is also done to differentiate the glasses. For easier loading, packaging is done.
