Machine industry
The machine industry is a subsector of the industry which maintains and manufactures machineries for consumers, other industries and most of the manufacturing companies in the economy. The machine industry conventionally is part of the heavy industry. Today, there are plenty of small companies in this particular branch which are considered as part of the light industry. The manufacturers in this particular industry are referred to as the machine factories.
The machine industry which is a subsector type of industry produces various products from power tools to domestic technology, different machine types and factory equipment. The industry of machines typically will provide the following:
- The means of production for different businesses in mining, construction, agriculture, and industry.
- The means of production for different public utilities like equipments for distribution and production of water, gas and electricity.
- A range of supporting machines for different sectors of the economy like equipments for heating, air condition of buildings and ventilation.
On another end, the machinery industry will supply consumer goods which include washers, refrigerators, kitchen appliances, dryers and similar appliances. The production of television and radio on the other hand generally belongs to the electrical equipment sector. The machinery industry is one of the major customers of the steel industry. The production of the different units of the machine industry varies greatly from series production to single unit production and mass production. The single unit production focuses on constructing unique products that are specific to the requirements set by the customer. Because of its modular design those machines and devices are often manufactured in small capacities which will significantly reduce the costs.
